Will Rogers State Park

In 1922 Will Rogers bought a ranch in the Santa Monica mountains and designed horse trails that wind through the mountains behind the ranch house. I went with my cousin to see the view from inspiration point that she claimed was as good as the view from the Getty Center without much of a hike. I must say that she definitely deceived me! The view was fantastic, but I was not eager to complete the hike. It really is not that bad. Only two miles round trip and I think we took a short cut that was quite a steep trail.

And it appears that they give riding lessons at the park.

Preface

It is no secret that most Northern California natives are not typically fond of Southern California. I would have never thought I would end up in SoCal but thanks to UCLA I made the move. Truth is, I would have never come if not for UCLA. Until recently I always said that I only stayed after graduation because it made the most sense of the five most reasonable locations. While that is the true reason I stayed, there must be a reason I stay. It is because I fell in love. I love LA.

My favorite cousin suggested I start a blog writing about cool things to do in LA. Naturally I assumed she wanted me to go see all the sights in La and to write about them so she could pick and choose what she wanted to do when she came to visit. While that might be true, I decided it might be a fun project. So here goes. Some of my posts will be destinations and activities in LA, some will just be reasons I love LA. I hope that any reader I have will give me suggestions to improve the general direction of MY ODE FOR LA.
